Perfect Harmony
A wine cabinet with a musical theme
MATERIALS are; Birch plywood ,purple heart
solid wood and veneer ,black ebony, Birdseye maple ,flexible mirror .
The two rings around the drums on top of the table, the guitar strings
and frets and the base on the drums are sterling silver, the rest of the
hardware is made from silver plated brass The nut on the guitar is
vegetable ivory (tagua nut).
DIMENSIONS 52 inches long, 24 inches wide,
19 inches high.
FINISH Several coats of polyurethane
polished to a high gloss.
This is my latest masterpiece . Three
pairs of musical instruments arranged in perfect harmony to create a
wine cabinet so fascinating and unique, it is hard to describe. At the
same time it is presented in the size and function of a coffee table.
The slightly beveled black ebony borders give this table simple but
elegant lines and the silver creates a nice contrast to the beautiful
natural color of the purple heart. I chose purple heart wood because it
reflects the color of red wine. To open the drums one of the (tensioners)??
can be flipped down to become a handle. An embedded magnetic switch
turns on the battery powered LED lights. Black ebony trimmed mirrors
reflect the beautiful Birdseye maple interior. It features compartments
and drawers with velvet bottoms, a wine bottle rack, wineglass holders,
veneered coasters and matching corkscrew, bottle stoppers and of course
a cleverly hidden secret compartment. The table can be completely
disassembled and put together again. The different components are
connected with machine screws and brass inserts. Each keyboard at the
end of the table is connected with two stainless steel rods that fit
into brass tubes on the table and are locked place with setscrews. A
quarter inch gap is left as a design element.
A truly magnificent piece of functional
art that will make a statement for anyone who would acquire it.
I took some pictures during the making of
the piece which will be presented in a small photo album, complementary
to the table.
